Caitlin Clark Betting: When Will Iowa's Star Guard Break the NCAA Scoring Record?
We are on the verge of history in women's college basketball with Iowa's superstar Caitlin Clark rapidly approaching the all-time scoring record. Clark posted 39.0 points per game (PPG) over her last four games, putting her only 65 points short of Kelsey Plum's all-time scoring record at 3,527 points.
It simply seems like a matter of when for Clark to set the record since the Hawkeyes have seven games remaining in the regular season. Clark averages 32.4 PPG on the season. Do the math; in seven games, this puts her on pace for about another 227 points, which would easily pace Plum's mark.
With that said, FanDuel Sportsbook's college basketball odds are offering lines for when Clark will set the record with her 3,528th career point. Let's check out the odds and which games could be the best bets for Clark to set the record.
In Which Game Will Caitlin Clark Score her 3528th Career Point | FanDuel Sportsbook Odds |
---|---|
February 11 At Nebraska | -125 |
February 15 Vs Michigan | -105 |
February 22 At Indiana | +5000 |
February 25 Vs Illinois | +10000 |
Caitlin Clark to Not Score her 3528th Career Point During the 2023-2024 Regular Season | +7500 |
February 11th at Nebraska (-125)
Iowa's next game takes place on Thursday against Penn State. FanDuel is not offering odds for Clark to set the record in this game; it would take a monumental performance.
In fact, Kansas State's Ayoka Lee set the record for the most points in single game in 2022 with 61 points. Clark would need a record-breaking performance with 66 points to break the all-time scoring record on Thursday. Never say never, but this is highly unlikely.
Nebraska is the next opponent on the schedule, which has the highest odds for when Clark will set the record. She would actually have to score a little bit above her averages as 32.4 PPG would put her on pace for about 65 points over the next two games, which would tie her with Plum's record.
February 15th vs. Michigan (-105)
Following Nebraska, Iowa will take on Michigan. When looking at her season averages, passing the record against the Wolverines could make the most sense.
However, I can't ignore that Clark has upped her production in recent games with 39.0 PPG in the last four. Iowa's next two opponents -- Penn State and Nebraska -- both rank outside the top 100 in PPG allowed. Breaking the record against Nebraska seems like the best bet.
February 22nd at Indiana (+5000)
This is where we get into the longshots. Clark breaking the record against Indiana carries large odds at +5000. This would likely require the superstar guard to average around 20.0 PPG over the next three games, which is highly unlikely considering Clark's shooting volume at about 22.3 shot attempts per game.
February 25th vs. Illinois (+10000)
This is a Hail Mary. It would likely take an injury for Clark to break the record in this game. It's difficult to see a scenario where Clark is averaging under 20.0 PPG over the next four games -- especially if she's fully healthy.
