3 NHL Player Prop Bets to Target on Tuesday 11/28/23
Player props can be useful in a variety of ways -- from taking advantage of them straight up to measuring a player's potential to produce in daily fantasy baseball on FanDuel. Here, we're going to focus on the former.
Utilizing numberFire's projections as a guide, here are some NHL player props bets that look appealing via the NHL odds at FanDuel Sportsbook.

Elias Pettersson To Score a Goal (+125)
The Vancouver Canucks are rocking a slate-high 3.84 implied goal total in a soft matchup against the Anaheim Ducks.
After a few up-and-down games, this is a clear 'get right' spot for the Canucks, who still lead the NHL with 88 goals scored in 22 games. While the Ducks got off to a decent start, they were due for some negative regression and we've seen that come to the forefront in recent games.
Over the last two weeks, the Ducks are allowing 4.35 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the worst in the league. This is the type of matchup where the league's highest-scoring team could pour on the goals early and often.
We turn to Elias Pettersson, who is the center on the Canucks' top line and top power-play unit. He comes in with eight goals, 21 assists, and 51 shots on goal through 22 games. Pettersson has also been held without a goal in his last five games.
Given his role and the super soft matchup, this is his chance to break out of a goal drought and find the back of the net.
Filip Forsberg To Record 5+ Shots on Goal (+132)
Filip Forsberg is typically a high-volume shooter, but had just one shot on goal in his most recent game.
Any time I see a star player in a bounce-back spot, I'm going to be interested in their props. Forsberg has 83 shots on goal this season -- the seventh-most in the league and good for 4.15 per game.
In his 20 games this season, Forsberg has recorded 5+ shots on goal 10 times. So we have a prop he is hitting 50% of the time and getting some solid plus money on it. Sign me up.
Tonight, he's taking on the Pittsburgh Penguins. Over the last two weeks, the Penguins are allowing 64.17 Total Shot attempts and 33.4 actual shots on goal per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, both of which are in the bottom six of the league.
Forsberg is the priority shooter for the Nashville Predators and has a great matchup to show that off tonight.
Jack Hughes To Score a Goal (+140)
The goal odds for Jack Hughes are simply too high tonight.
At +500, Jack Hughes is tied for the second-shortest odds to win the Hart Trophy, the award for the NHL MVP. So when I see goal odds higher than +120, I'm going to be interested in that value.
Hughes returned to the lineup four games ago and has already piled up 23 shots on goal but just a single goal to show for it. He's back on the top line and the top power-play for the New Jersey Devils, picking up right where he left off and firing the puck any chance he gets.
Tonight, he's up against the New York Islanders. That may seem like a tough matchup, but much like the Transformers, there's more than meets the eye here.
Over the last two weeks, the Islanders have allowed 75.24 total shot attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the worst in the league. Over that same time, they have allowed just 1.58 Goals in the same situations, which is the fourth-fewest in the league.
That simply doesn't add up. A team allowing a massive amount of shot attempts but so few goals. If we look at their Expected Goals Allowed (xGA), they are up at 3.26, which is the second-worst in the league.
This is a case of a defense that's massively overperforming and is due for some serious negative regression.
Hughes should be able to get that started tonight in a mathup he's had plenty of success in the past two seasons. This year, he had two goals, two assists, and six shots on goal in one game. Last year, he had two goals, one assist, and 13 shots on goal in three games.
