The World Athletics Championships are a biennial event organized by World Athletics for the sport of track and field. They act as the highest level of competition in this area alongside the Olympics.
What Country Will Be the Host of the 2022 World Athletics Championships?
The United States is hosting the 2022 World Athletics Championships. This year's competition will be held in Eugene, Oregon, at Hayward Field on the University of Oregon campus. The 2022 event marks the first time the U.S. will host this track and field showcase.
World Championships 2022 Date
The 2022 World Championships kick off on Friday. They will be held in Eugene, Oregon, from July 15 to July 24.
This year's event was originally slated to be held in 2021, following its traditional schedule of two years between competitions. However, it was delayed to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic pushing back the Summer Olympics to 2021.
The next World Athletics Championships will be held in 2023 in Budapest, Hungary, before returning to a two-year gap in 2025 at Tokyo's National Stadium.

The World Athletics Championships will have 49 individual events and one team event throughout the 10-day competition. The action kicks off Friday with a few noteworthy contests, like men's 100m heats and mix 4x400m.

Track and field fans have a few ways to watch the 2022 World Athletics Championships. NBC's streaming service, Peacock, will show the entire event (Peacock Premium subscription/trial required). Those with a cable subscription can also stream the action on NBCSports.com/live or the NBC Sports app.

Allyson Felix World Championships 2022
American track and field legend Allyson Felix announced earlier this year that the 2022 World Athletics Championships will be the final event of his illustrious career. She's the most decorated athlete in World Championships history, securing 18 career medals. Felix also owns a whopping seven gold medals from the Olympics.
She will compete in the 4x400m mixed relay that's set for Friday, July 15 on Peacock and USA Network.
