West Virginia Unveils Awesome ‘Country Road’ Uniforms Ahead ‘Backyard Brawl’ Game Against Pittsburgh

The West Virginia Mountaineers will begin the 2022 college football season with the "Backyard Brawl" game against the Pittsburgh Panthers. The game itself is plenty for fans to look forward to, but West Virginia is adding another element with some awesome new uniforms it plans to debut.

West Virginia Country Road Uniforms

West Virginia will debut "Country Roads" unis for the game.

The uniforms, a nod to the famous John Denver song "Take Me Home, Country Roads" which has become the anthem of West Virginia.

Alternate uniforms, especially in college, are nothing new, but when you can tie something near and dear to the hearts of the fanbase or the local region into those uniforms, it makes it that much more special and appealing.

The Mountaineers also did a great job with these. They didn't overdo it, which is a common mistake with special edition alternate jerseys. West Virginia was able to maintain a fairly similar look and an identical color scheme, but adding in those special twists that make the uniform unique.

West Virginia enters Thursday's contest as a 7.5-point underdog against Pittsburgh, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's latest NCAAF odds.
