VIDEO: Remembering When Charles Woodson and David Boston Fought During Michigan vs Ohio State 1997 Matchup
Updated:
The Ohio State-Michigan rivalry is one of the most heated battles in all of sports. From players to fans, the animosity runs deep. This was clearly shown back in the 1997 matchup between these two Big Ten titans, when Buckeyes WR David Boston and Wolverines DB Charles Woodson went toe-to-toe.

As with many wide receiver-cornerback battles, there had been a lot of contact and words exchanged between the two players. They were likely not fond of each other heading into the game to begin with either. At some point, something snapped, and the two players got into it before they were quickly separated before any further escalation.
It was Woodson who got the last laugh though, owning the Buckeyes all day. He caught a 37-yard pass, which set up a score. Woodson also intercepted Ohio State in the end zone and ran a punt back for a touchdown on the way to a 20-14 victory over the Buckeyes to cap off a perfect 12-0 regular season.
While a little extracurricular activity after the whistle is rarely condoned, it simply goes to show the kind of passion and tensions that come with this all-time great rivalry.
