VIDEO: Reds Pitcher Trolls Ump and Refuses to Play in Freezing Rain

Updated:

The early part of the baseball season can bring some interesting weather and that is exactly what happened during a Cincinnati Reds game this past week. In the eighth inning of a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, freezing rain started to come down at Great American Ball Park.

The Reds pitcher at the time was reliever Lucas Sims, but he was not too happy about the whole situation. He wanted the game to be stopped because he could not get any kind of grip on the baseball. However, the home plate umpire was simply not giving in.

Sims then took things to the next level by throwing every single baseball the umpire gave him directly over to the clubhouse. This is an all-time troll job and eventually forced the umpire to call the grounds crew on to the field to stop the game.

Prior to the stoppage, Sims hit a batter with a pitch and walked another. He had a reason to be upset as this allowed Arizona to take a 5-4 lead. The Reds eventually lost by that same score when the game was resumed the next day.

Cincinnati is currently 9-8 on the season and sit in second place in the National League Central division. They have a shot to make the playoffs this season if they can just stay away from the freezing rain and snowy weather moving forward.
