VIDEO: Chuba Hubbard Runs Insane 40-Yard Dash Time
Updated:
Chubba Hubbard showcased his talent in 2019 with Oklahoma State, earning an eighth-place finish in Heisman Trophy voting. However, his 2020 campaign wasn't up to par, and he played in just seven games while dealing with ankle injuries before opting out to prepare for the NFL Draft.
Hubbard is known for his roadrunner-like speed, and that was on full display at his Pro Day.
The Oklahoma State RB recorded a 4.36 40-yard dash which is sure to draw the attention of NFL teams ahead of this month's draft. Hubbard could use the positive press after falling down big boards following his less than stellar 2020 season.
Hubbard's speed played a role in that breakout 2019 performance. He registered 2,094 yards and 21 TDs, becoming the first running back in school history since Barry Sanders to eclipse over 2,000 yards. His stock came crashing down with just 625 yards and 6 total TDs in 2020.
The impressive 6.4 yards per carry he averaged in 2019 highlighted his dynamic speed. But being versatile in pass-catching and blocking will be crucial to the running back finding more than one way to contribute at the next level. If Hubbard can round out his game while also possessing top-end speed, he could be a nightmare for defenses.
