Top 12 Fantasy Football Defense Rankings for Week 2 (2022)

Updated:

Defenses are usually just an afterthought in fantasy football. That's leaving points on the board though. Savvy fantasy managers will be scouring the waiver wire to capitalize on the best defensive matchups each and every week.

With that in mind, here are the top-12 fantasy football defenses for Week 2 of the 2022 NFL season.

Fantasy Football Defense Rankings Week 2

12. Las Vegas Raiders (vs ARI)

11. Baltimore Ravens (vs MIA)

10. Pittsburgh Steelers (vs NE)

Mike Tomlin's defensive front came out of the gates firing and put up the best fantasy performance of the weekend. This included forcing a league-leading five turnovers and seven sacks while holding the Cincinnati Bengals' potent offense to just 20 points. Look for the Pittsburgh Steelers to turn in another strong performance in Week 2 against a banged-up New England Patriots squad. Quarterback Mac Jones is questionable to play with back spasms. If Brian Hoyer replaces him, Pittsburgh could be in for another No. 1 defensive showing on Sunday.

9. New England Patriots (at PIT)

8. Cincinnati Bengals (at DAL)

7. Indianapolis Colts (at JAX)

6. Cleveland Browns (vs NYJ)

5. Los Angeles Rams (vs ATL)

4. Buffalo Bills (vs TEN)

The Buffalo Bills' defense showed up in dominant fashion in a Week 1 blowout against the Los Angeles Rams, racking up the third-most fantasy points on the week. This included forcing three turnovers and a league-high seven sacks. Von Miller's sheer presence showed up big on the stat line, and Ryan Tannehill could be in for a long game in Buffalo's home opener. Tennessee only managed 359 yards of total offense and 20 points against the lowly New York Giants in Week 1.

3. San Francisco 49ers (vs SEA)

2. Denver Broncos (vs HOU)

1. Green Bay Packers (vs CHI)

The Green Bay Packers' defense did not show up in Week 1, but that was against one of the best-looking offenses early on in the Minnesota Vikings. It didn't help that Aaron Rodgers and his offense didn't put up a single point in the first half. Green Bay is poised for a big turnaround here, however, after Chicago put up a league-worst 204 yards of offense in Week 1. If the Packers can jump into the turnover column just once and find any sort of offensive groove, they should rack up defensive points against a bad Bears team.
