This Picture of Bill O'Brien From His High School Football Days is an Incredible Throwback
Updated:
Bill O'Brien was one of the most criticized people in the NFL this offseason, due to the roster changes he made and his outburst during the NFL Draft. However, the criticisms can be put on hold for at least a second, because we have this incredible picture from his high school playing days.
If the chin wasn't the most obvious giveaway, O'Brien is on the right in this picture, during his senior season at St. John's Prep. He sort of has this crazy look in his eyes. A look that says he would trade away one of the best receivers in the NFL with zero remorse, regardless of the return he gets.
After graduating high school, O'Brien played defensive end and linebacker at Brown University, where he also had his first coaching gig. After other college stops with Georgia Tech, Maryland and Duke, O'Brien made a name for himself with the New England Patriots.
O'Brien's first head coaching gig came with the Penn State Nittany Lions, where he coached for two seasons. His time there earned him the head coaching job with the Houston Texans, which he has held since 2014.
While the criticisms of O'Brien are endless, and often earned, it's tough to argue with the overall results. He has a 52-44 record with the Texans, and has only finished with fewer than nine wins once. He has also made the playoffs in four of his six seasons with the team, losing in the postseason to the eventual Super Bowl champions twice.
