Seahawks Make Quick Move for RB Depth Following Rashaad Penny Injury
Updated:
The Seattle Seahawks' biggest fears were confirmed on Monday, as starting running back Rashaad Penny will miss the rest of the season with a fractured fibula. It's disappointing news for Penny considering his strong start to the year, but Seattle must now prepare to play the rest of the season without him.
The Seahawks have quickly moved to add depth in the backfield.

Seattle has picked up former New Orleans Saints RB Tony Jones off waivers. New Orleans parted ways with Jones ahead of its Week 5 contest, clearing the way for him to join a new team if he was claimed.
The former Notre Dame standout broke into the league as an undrafted free agent in 2020 with the Saints. He saw minimal usage in New Orleans over his first two years, logging just 57 carries and 155 yards. That trend has continued in 2022, as he's recorded just 8 yards on 2 attempts this year.
At the very least, Jones provides some insurance for a very shorthanded backfield that also saw Travis Homer recently hit the IR. It'll be on rookie Kenneth Walker III to likely carry the load, with Jones and DeeJay Dallas complementing him going forward.
Seahawks fans will see what Walker can really do as he leads this RB group in a Week 6 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds peg the Cardinals as slight 3-point road favorites in the NFC West clash.
