Ranking the 5 Best Uniforms in Broncos History
Updated:
The Denver Broncos' aesthetic has changed fairly drastically over the years. From a yellow-and-brown look in the AFL days to a bright orange to a deep blue and back to orange, the primary colors in the uniforms have evolved.
With that in mind, here are the five greatest uniforms in Broncos history.
5. 1994 Orange Throwback (to 1965)
Worn for the NFL's 75th anniversary season, these uniforms (originally from 1965) were something of a unique look for the Broncos. The jerseys aren't anything to write home about, as the blue shoulders are a weird touch, but that short-lived helmet design (used from 1962 to 1966) is hard not to love.
4. 2019 Color Rush
The all-bright orange look is likely a polarizing one, as NFL Color Rush uniforms tend to be in general. It's a clean look though (if a little Cleveland Browns-esque), but again this is a case of the helmet doing some heavy lifting. Combining the throwback logo that the Broncos used form 1968-1995 with a darker, more modern background color works perfectly to contrast the bright uniforms.
3. 1994 White
The helmets the Broncos wore from 1968 to 1996 remain the best in franchise history. This version, with the white facemask and clean center stripes, looks particularly good. White uniforms can be hit-or-miss, but this all-white look includes enough color splashed in to go perfectly with those helmets.
2. 1997 Blue
How could a Broncos fan not love the jerseys that debuted just in time for back-to-back Super Bowl Championships? These saw the Broncos modernize their look in a big way, rolling out the new logo and helmets that they still wear today. The side stripe curving onto the front of the body is another great part of this look, and again one that was so good that it's still incorporated in the Broncos' current uniforms.
1. 1986 Orange
These are the best of the best. Not only did the team find some big success in this look (John Elway made his first Pro Bowl and the Broncos made the Super Bowl in 1986), but the uniforms stand up on their own as well. Again it's the best helmet the team has ever worn, and it's paired with their awesome '80s orange jersey.
