Sources: Patrick Ewing Received Extension Following Georgetown's 2021 March Run
Updated:
Georgetown rewarded Patrick Ewing with a contract extension following last season's run to the Big East Tournament title and the NCAA Tournament, multiple sources told FanDuel.
Exact terms of the extension and how much of it is guaranteed is still unknown.
Ewing's agent David Falk declined comment earlier this week.
Patrick Ewing Contract
Ewing's initial contract when he was hired as Georgetown's head coach in 2017 paid him an annual salary of $2.6 million dollars. The initial contract, prior to last year's extension, went through the 2022-23 season.
The Hoyas are currently 6-20 overall and 0-15 in Big East play.
Georgetown Basketball News
Ewing has recruited well at Georgetown, but has lost several key players (James Akinjo, Mac McClung, and Qudus Wahab) as transfers.
His head coaching acumen has never been in question and Ewing, according to multiple sources, still has tremendous support internally at Georgetown.
The Hoyas are 68-79 in five years under Ewing and have advanced to one NCAA Tournament and one Postseason NIT during his tenure.
Georgetown will next host DePaul on Thursday.
