New Mexico State Bowl Game History (Wins, Appearances and All-Time Record)
Updated:
Bowl game season is an exciting time in college football. Schools across the nation will battle it out for postseason glory and a chance to end their year on a high note.
One team that's no stranger to playing in bowl games is the New Mexico State Aggies. Here's everything you need to know about NMSU's bowl history before making its next appearance.
New Mexico State Bowl Game History
New Mexico State hasn't been that much of an active participant in the college football postseason. The Aggies have played in five bowls across the school's history.
The Aggies made their first bowl appearance in 1935 as a part of the Border Conference. They ended up picking up a 14-14 tie against Hardin-Simmons in the Sun Bowl that year.
New Mexico returned to the Sun Bowl twice more after that (1959, 1960), winning both outings. Unfortunately, the Aggies went 56 seasons before they'd make another bowl appearance, which is an FBS record. They wound up winning in their 2017 return, defeating Utah State, 26-20, in overtime at the Arizona Bowl.
NMSU's most recent bowl appearance came in 2022 against Bowling Green. The Aggies won that Quick Lane Bowl meeting 24-19.
