Najee Harris Injury Update Solidifies Week 2 Fantasy Outlook
Updated:
Running back Najee Harris was notably absent toward the end of the Pittsburgh Steelers' Week 1 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. It was confirmed later on that he limped off of the field because of a foot injury. The good news is that the severity of the injury is minor and it won't impact his Week 2 status.
Najee Harris Week 2 Fantasy Outlook
Harris was injured as the Steelers attempted to run out the clock in the fourth quarter. He ended the game with 23 rushing yards on 10 carries and added 3 yards as well as 1 touchdown on 2 receptions. The second-year pro's foot injury has nothing to do with the Lisfranc issue he dealt with in August.
The 2021 season was all about volume for Harris from a fantasy football perspective. He averaged a whopping 22.4 touches per game and should near closer to that number with each week that passes by in 2022. The connection between him and quarterback Mitchell Trubisky just has to grow stronger.
That's something to keep an eye on because Harris racked up 467 yards and 3 touchdowns through the air last year. He now faces a New England defense in Week 2 that gave up the fourth-most receiving yards to RBs in 2021. The Patriots allowed 56 yards on 5 receptions to Miami RBs in Week 1.
There's no reason to debate sitting Harris this week as he told reporters he is "ready to go" and should be in for a big workload. Plug him into a starting RB slot without hesitation. The former Alabama standout checks in as the No. 12 RB in The Duel's Week 2 PPR fantasy football rankings.
