Updated:
Bowl game season is an exciting time in college football. Schools across the nation will battle it out for postseason glory and a chance to end their year on a high note.
One team that's no stranger to playing in bowl games is the Memphis Tigers. Here's everything you need to know about Memphis' bowl history before making its next appearance.
Memphis Bowl Game History
Memphis has frequented the college football postseason more often in recent years. The Tigers have played in 15 bowls across the school's history.
The Tigers made their first bowl appearance in 1956 as an independent program. They picked up the 32-12 victory against East Tennessee State in the Burley Bowl that year.
After playing in the 1971 Pasadena Bowl, Memphis went over 30 years before its next bowl game (2003 New Orleans Bowl). Fortunately, the Tigers have qualified for a lot more bowl games in the 2000s, most recently winning 38-10 over Utah State in the 2022 First Responder Bowl.
