Mariners vs Astros Prediction & Pick

The Mariners could benefit from a boost heading into the All-Star break and have a perfect pitcher on the mound to help earn that boost. Luis Castillo draws the nod as he has logged a 3.05 ERA and 1.07 WHIP across 17 starts. His 2.5 walks allowed per nine innings is on pace to be a career-best mark.

The Astros will counter with Hunter Brown, who has impressed during his rookie season with a 3.76 ERA and 1.25 WHIP across 16 starts. The 24-year-old has been roughed up a bit as of late, though. Brown has given up 10 earned runs on 20 hits over his last 15.2 innings. Momentum is not on his side.

Keep in mind the Astros are still without Yordan Alvarez and Jose Altuve as each superstar remains injured, too. Their lineup suddenly lines up as a lot less powerful, especially against a pitcher who excels at generating swings and misses. Look for Castillo to take command in a low-scoring win.

Final Score Prediction: Mariners: 4 | Astros: 2

Mariners vs Astros Best Bet

Backing the under on the run total is a great option here, but backing neither team to reach 5 runs comes with much better value at +132 odds. The opposing team has not scored 5 or more runs in seven of Castillo's last 10 starts as well as in nine of Brown's last 15 starts. Starting pitching will dominate this game before giving way to two bullpens that rank among the top 10 in terms of ERA.

Bet: Race to 5 Runs - Neither (+132)
