LSU Gets Huge Gift Ahead of Citrus Bowl With Latest Purdue Roster Move

Updated:

The LSU Tigers fought their way to the SEC Championship this season. Unfortunately for Brian Kelly and the Tigers, however, they ran into the No. 1 team in the nation in that game, and their convincing loss to the Georgia Bulldogs ended any hopes that LSU had of making it into the College Football Playoff.

Now, LSU prepares for the Citrus Bowl against the Purdue Boilermakers. On Wednesday, the Tigers caught a break with news out of Purdue that starting quarterback Aidan O'Connell will be skipping the game to train and prepare for the NFL Draft instead.

This is becoming increasingly common in college football. Players who are not in the College Football Playoff are skipping meaningless bowl games in an effort to avoid injury or their stock falling ahead of the NFL Draft.

Purdue losing its starting quarterback who threw for almost 3,500 yards this season is a crushing blow to its chances of topping LSU in the Citrus Bowl.

Brian Kelly and the Tigers better take advantage of this opportunity and get this bowl win to end the season on a high note. LSU is now favored by 14 points over Purdue on FanDuel Sportsbook's NCAAF odds.
