Los Angeles Lakers First Round Playoff Schedule 2023 (Times, Dates and TV Channel for Grizzlies Series)
Updated:
The Los Angeles Lakers are in the NBA Playoffs for the third time in the last four years following a win over the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Play-In Tournament. Head coach Darvin Ham's team has its sights set on earning the franchise's 18th title, but up first is a series against the Memphis Grizzlies.
Here's everything you need to know about the Lakers-Grizzlies first round series.
What Seed Are the Lakers in the 2023 NBA Playoffs?
The Lakers ended the 2022-23 regular season with a 43-39 record, which was good enough to finish No. 7 in the Western Conference. A win over the Timberwolves in the Play-In Tournament locked that seed in for good. As is tradition, the 7-seed faces the 2-seed in the first round of the playoffs. The Grizzlies concluded the campaign as the No. 2 team in the West after posting a 51-31 record.
Who Are the Lakers Playing in the 2023 Playoffs?
As the 7-seed, the Lakers play the 2-seed Grizzlies in the first round of the NBA Playoffs. This will be a typical best-of-seven series that follows the 2-2-1-1-1 format. That means the better seed (Memphis) will host Games 1 and 2, plus Games 5 and 7 if those are necessary. The worse seed (Los Angeles) hosts Games 3 and 4, plus Game 6 if that is necessary.
Looking ahead, if the Lakers win this series and advance, they would face either the 3-seed Sacramento Kings or the 6-seed Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference semifinals, as the NBA playoff matchups do not re-seed in each round.
