Kyle Schwarber Reveals His Choice for HR Derby Pitcher
Updated:
Like a few of his fellow competitors, Philadelphia Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber is no stranger to the bright lights that is the MLB Home Run Derby. He finished as runner-up to his new Phillies teammate Bryce Harper back in 2018, and looks to take the crown in 2022.
Schwarber spoke to MLB.com about some strategy changes he plans to implement this season, but one thing won't be changing: the person throwing to him.

A longtime offseason workout partner, Mike Sanicola will pitch to Schwarber in Monday's derby. Sanicola also pitched to the NL's home run leader back in 2018. The two work out together throughout the offseason as Schwarber's designated BP pitcher.
Schwarber even refers to Sanicola by a special nickname, calling him "Money" because his BP pitching is "so consistent." The Phillies slugger also enjoys this partnership because of Sanicola "isn't going to be overtaken by the moment."
Sanicola previously played at the University of Miami.
FanDuel Sportsbook has released odds for the 2022 HR Derby and Pete Alonso remains the favorite at +195. Schwarber checks in with the second-best odds set at +350.
