Keeneland Horse Racing Picks for Friday 4/28/23
Updated:
It's the final day of the three-week Keeneland Spring Meet, and Friday features 10 races with a post time of 1 p.m. ET.
As always, check the program for scratches and changes, monitor the weather and keep an eye on the track conditions.
(I will reference Equibase's Speed Figure in selected races, which tells you how fast a horse has been running in each of its races after adjusting for track, distances, and conditions).

Race 2 is a Maiden Special Weight for baby 2-year-old fillies sprinting 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf. The jockey title will be decided today between top jockeys Tyler Gaffalione and Luis Saez, who both have 18 wins and a 22% win percentage.
Saez rides Beyond Oscar (3/1) as a best bet by Guaranteed Tip Sheet, while the numberFire data favors Bundchen (9/5). Both make their career debut, and Beyond Oscar has a slightly faster 3-furlong morning workout. Gaffalione rides American Tsunami (12/1) breaking from the outside No. 12 post for her debut race.
2. War Like Goddess and Personal Best, Race 8
FanDuel Racing Odds: 3/5 and 3/1

Race 8 is the $300,000 Grade 3 Bewitch Stakes for older fillies and mares going 1 1/2 miles on the turf. War Like Goddess (3/5) is the prohibitive favorite and top pick of both numberFire and GTS. She's won this race in each of the last two years and loves the track and distance. Joel Rosario rides.
Temple City Terror (9/2) has the same running style as the heavy favorite, and Jose Ortiz looks to break through as numberFire's projected runner-up. Brother Irad Ortiz, Jr. rides Personal Best (3/1), and Irad leads all jockeys with a 59% in-the-money hit rate.
3. Dunedin and Turf King, Race 10
FanDuel Racing Odds: 5/1 and 2/1
Bet Now at TVG | Bet Now at FanDuel
Race 10 is an Allowance race for 3-year-olds going 1 mile on the turf. Turf King (2/1) is a best bet of Guaranteed Tip Sheet with Tyler Gaffalione riding. The numberFire data picks Dunedin (5/1) ahead of Laver (12/1). Turf King trainer Chad Brown has fewer runners in this meet but is hitting a meet-best 63% in-the-money rate and a strong 31% win rate.
Turf King won his only start to break his maiden in Feb. and has been working at Keeneland throughout April.
Luis Saez rides Dunedin, and this will be an interesting race to watch if the jockey title is on the line for the final race of the meet. Dunedin won an Allowance race last fall and finished a very close 5th within 1-length of winning a Grade 3 race. His 2023 debut on April 1 was an in-the-money finish in a minor stakes.
