Justin Jefferson Fantasy Football Outlook 2022 (Is Jefferson the WR1?)

Justin Jefferson Fantasy Football Outlook 2022 (Is Jefferson the WR1?)

Updated:

Justin Jefferson set the football world on fire as a rookie only to do it again as a sophomore last year. The Minnesota Vikings superstar finished as the WR4 when it came to PPR fantasy football formats, leaving fans wondering if he has what it takes for another top-five performance.

Keeping that in mind, it's not shocking to see Jefferson as one of the first wideouts to come off the board in fantasy drafts this year. Fantasy Pros currently has him ranked as the WR2 with an average draft position (ADP) of 5.7.

Few wideouts can make the type of big plays that Jefferson produces on a weekly basis. He finished the 2021 NFL season with 108 receptions for 1,616 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns, averaging over 95 yards per game in the process.

If that wasn't impressive enough, Jefferson produced seven 100-plus-yard performances last year, including a stretch where he recorded 577 receiving yards between Weeks 10 and 13. Considering that Adam Thielen is his only real competition for targets, a similar performance is within the realm of possibility.

Jefferson indicated this week that he plans on being the first-ever 2,000-yard receiver. That's quite a lofty goal, but when you combine his talent with how often Kirk Cousins looks for him, you can never say never.

Justin Jefferson Projections

Projections from the NFL odds on FanDuel Sportsbook are also nice and high on Jefferson. He's currently the +900 favorite to lead the league in receiving yards, while his yardage total currently sits at 1,350.5 with -112 odds on both the over and under.

Once you consider that Jefferson leads all players with 3,016 receiving yards since 2020, it's easy to see why another dominant season could be around the corner.

Is Justin Jefferson a Good Fantasy Football Pick?

Unless you know of another 23-year-old wideout averaging over 1,500 yards per season, it's safe to say that Jefferson is a fantastic fantasy football pick. The Duel has him listed as the No. 2 WR when it comes to PPR player rankings, further indicating the value he brings.

You also shouldn't ignore Jefferson in standard leagues. He was also the WR4 in standard, averaging a whopping 19.4 fantasy points per game. While it was nearly as good as WR1 Cooper Kupp's average (25.9), it was only 1.1 points less than the WR2, Davante Adams.
