Joe Tippmann Scouting Report
Opposing defenders had many issues getting by Joe Tippmann last fall. Playing 758 offensive snaps for Wisconsin, the boulder of a human being only surrendered one sack, two quarterback hits and two hurries.
Tippmann's massive frame (6-goot-6, 313 pounds) is one of the many reasons why scouts love him. The former Indiana Mr. Football Offensive Lineman has terrific speed for his size, helping him both as a blocker and in run protection. That's not even to mention a great personaility that's earned him respect from past coaches and teammates alike.
As promising as he is, Tippmann does have some shortcomings. He's known to be undsciplined, having taken six holdings calls last season. And while he looked huge against college competitors, he still weighs less than a decent chunk of defensive linemen he'll face. Nevertheless, any issues about his game can be fixed.
Joe Tippmann NFL Draft Prediction
Although his draft stock varies, Joe Tippmann doesn't look like he'll be on the board beyond Round 2. He might be somewhat of a minor project, but that doesn't mean he can't be a valuable contributor with the right coaching.
The New York Giants would be smart to take a swing on Tippmann. General manager Joe Schoen has improved the offensive line since arriving in 2022, but there's still work to be done — especially with J.C. Hassenauer being the only rostered center, per Spotrac.
Tippmann won't be among the league's best centers right out of the gate, but he's talented enough to start in Week 1. Besides, an offensive line grown around Tippmann and Evan Neal over the next few years is something Giants fans would love.
Although the Giants don't have a Day 2 pick until the end of the second round, Tippmann's lack of ability to play other o-line positions could cause him to slide.
Prediction: New York Giants (Round 2, 57th overall)
