Heisman Favorite Wins Major College Football Award

Updated:

Quarterback Caleb Williams and the USC Trojans just had a stellar season. Although it was a tough ending losing in the Pac-12 Championship game and getting knocked out of a spot in the College Football Playoff, Williams is in line for some individual recognition.

College Football AP Player of the Year

Already the favorite to win the coveted Heisman Trophy this year, Williams has now been named the AP Player of the Year. He is the first USC Trojan to win the award since Reggie Bush in 2005.

Williams followed head coach Lincoln Reilly to Souther Cal from Oklahoma this season and proceeded to have a campaign for the ages, throwing for 4.075 yards and 37 touchdowns with just 4 interceptions. He also added 372 rushing yards and a whopping 10 touchdowns on the ground.

USC is preparing to take on Tulane in this year's Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic on January 2. USC is currently a 1.5-point favorite according to FanDuel Sportsbook's latest NCAAF odds.
