Has Florida Ever Won the Baseball College World Series? (Championship Wins, Appearances, History)

Updated:

The 2023 NCAA Baseball season has almost reached its conclusion. Only two teams remain in contention for a championship as the Florida Gators and LSU Tigers are set to battle it out in a three-game series starting on Saturday, June 24. Each side features its fair share of this year's best players.

As the Gators prepare for an exciting clash, fans are wondering about the university's finals history. Here's everything you need to know about Florida's success in the College World Series all-time.

Have the Florida Gators Ever Won the College World Series?

Yes, Florida has won the College World Series once before. They became the 29th different university to win an NCAA baseball title in 2017. It came in what was the Gators' third all-time Finals appearance.

The Gators road to a title began with a dominant regular season as head coach Kevin O'Sullivan led his team to a 52-19 record (21-9 in SEC play). Pitching was a major strength for the team as Brady Singer, Jackson Kowar and Alex Faedo all finished with an ERA under 2.00 across 18 or more starts.

Florida faced elimination in both the Gainesville Regional and Super Regional, but found a way to get to Omaha. Pitching remained the foundation for success as the Gators allowed an average of 1.0 run per game in their five wins. They defeated LSU in two games to hoist the trophy for the first time ever.

O'Sullivan remains the head coach in 2023 and has guided his team to an impressive 53-15 record ahead of another championship matchup with the Tigers. Two-way player Jac Caglianone has stole the show with an NCAA-leading 31 home runs at the plate to go along with a 3.68 ERA on the mound.
