Falcons Get Encouraging Caleb Huntley Injury Update Ahead of Week 8
Updated:
The Atlanta Falcons are trying their best to put together a consistent rushing attack without starting running back Cordarrelle Patterson available to play. Rookie Caleb Huntley has been tasked with a bigger role on offense and fans can breathe a sigh of relief as he did return to practice on Friday.
Caleb Huntley Injury Update
Huntley was a late addition to the injury report on Thursday as he was sidelined with an illness. There seems to no cause for concern, though, as he was able to suit up after missing just one day of action. Huntley joins Tyler Allgeier and Avery Williams in what is one of the most unproven NFL backfields.
Huntley has logged 174 rushing yards and 1 touchdown on 41 carries across five games this season. He originally split carries with Allgeier in the first two games after Patterson's injury, but was a clear backup option in Week 7. Huntley's 11 offensive snaps paled in comparison to Allgeier's mark of 29.
It'll be all hands on deck Sunday as the Falcons look to take over first place in the NFC South in a matchup against the Panthers. Carolina has posted the 13th-best rush defense DVOA rating in the NFL and is allowing only 4.1 yards per carry (T-No. 4 in NFL). Huntley and Allgeier will have to step up.
FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds list the Falcons as 4-point home favorites with -210 moneyline odds against the Panthers.
