Elijah Moore Fantasy Outlook & Injury Update 2022 (Can the Sophomore WR Stay Healthy?)

Updated:

The New York Jets draft Elijah Moore in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft to give quarterback Zach Wilson a wide receiver whom he could grow with. Moore was doing well before his season abruptly ended due to injury, ranking as the WR30 in PPR fantasy formats from Week 1 to 13.

It's a new year and managers can't wait to see what Moore does as a sophomore. The Jets have tried improving their offense this season, leaving time to tell if the 22-year-old pass-catcher can be a difference maker in this fantasy campaign.

Though his start as a rookie was slow, Moore's performances picked up as the season went on. Suiting up in 11 games, he finished his first NFL season with 43 catches for 538 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

Moore clearly established a connection with Wilson last season, resulting in his averaging exactly seven targets per game. That equates to 119 targets over the course of a 17-game schedule, giving the former Mississippi WR plenty of opportunities to succeed if that trend continues.

Moore's play could also improve now that the Jets have more credible pass-catching options. In addition to a returning Corey Davis, New York used this year's 10th overall pick on former Ohio State product Garrett Wilson, while also signing free-agent tight ends C.J. Uzomah and Tyler Conklin.

If the additional help works as well as planned, Moore could find himself freed up more often. If he can take advantage of these opportunities while maintaining his health, it could be quite the productive fantasy season.

Elijah Moore Injury Update

After a quad injury cut his rookie campaign short, fantasy managers are concerned about his healthy heading into the 2022 season. As the saying goes, "no news is good news," and that's exactly the case with Moore, who's been a full participant at Jets training camp.

It seems like last season's quad injury is a thing of the past and all signs point to a healthy start to the upcoming NFL year. Unless there's an injury sustained during the preseason, managers mustn't worry about Moore.

Elijah Moore Projections

Projections from the NFL odds on FanDuel Sportsbook are low on Moore. One example is his having only +10000 odds (T-No. 44) to lead the league in receiving yards. He's also in an eight-way tie for the 24th-best odds (+5000) to be the 2022 NFL receiving TDs leader.

Moore currently doesn't have any projected receiving totals listed on FanDuel. Check back periodically to see if any markets are added before the 2022 NFL season.

Is Elijah Moore a Good Fantasy Football Pick?

Moore proved last season that he has the potential to be a solid fantasy football pick as long as he stays healthy. ESPN's Mike Clay lists the Jets as having the eighth-toughest schedule in 2022, which could yield plenty of receiving opportunities for Moore to produce if his team is constantly playing from behind.

Moore also finds himself as the WR36 when it comes to The Duel's PPR player rankings. Fantasy Pros lists him as having an average draft position of 84.8, making him a player that'll likely be off the board by the time Round 8 rolls around in 12-team leagues.
