College Football National Championship Best Bet
When it comes to next year's CFP National Championship, I like USC (+1200) winning its first national championship since 2004.
Even though this season didn't end as planned for the Trojans, Lincoln Riley's team was a joy to watch. The offense — led by Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Caleb Williams — was top five in both points (41.4 PPG, No. 4) and total yards (506.7, No. 3), able to go head-to-head with any program in the nation. With Williams having another year under his belt and looking to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft, I'm expecting even bigger numbers.
The Trojans' defense left a lot to be desired (29.2 PPG, No. 82), I expect Riley to fix things over the next several months. After all, the process has already begun as USC has brought in defensive linemen Kyon Barrs (Arizona) and Jack Sullivan (Purdue) from the transfer portal.
As long as Williams repeats this season's success (or improves upon it) and the defensive issues are addressed, I predict that USC will be involved in the 2023-24 National Championship discussion throughout the campaign.
