David Njoku Gives Exciting Update on Injury Status for Week 10
Updated:
The Cleveland Browns were dealt a big blow in Week 7 when breakout tight end David Njoku suffered a significant ankle injury. He was initially given a timeline of 2-5 weeks to return from the sprain, but the sixth-year pro insisted he would be back sooner than later.
It turns out Njoku may keep his promise after the latest update on his injury.
The TE told reporters on Monday "that's the plan" when asked about potentially playing on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. He'll need to prove he's healthy enough to suit up in practice, but the fact he seems confident in his chances is a great sign heading into Week 10 prep.
Njoku has emerged a key part of Cleveland's offense after a slow start. Since Week 3, he's averaging 7.2 targets, 6.0 receptions and an impressive 75.8 yards per game. His ability to rack up yards after the catch has given quarterback Jacoby Brissett another dynamic playmaker to turn to outside of star wideout Amari Cooper.
With a high-flying Dolphins offense on tap next, Njoku returning at full strength would be a huge boost for Cleveland. The Browns are 4-point underdogs ahead of that matchup, according to FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds.
