Dark Horse Picks to Win PGA 2023 Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch on FanDuel Sportsbook
Updated:
A week ahead of the second major of the season and the 2023 PGA Championship, it's time to cash in another dark horse and longshot after Wyndham Clark (+7500) captured his first PGA Tour title last week at the Wells Fargo Championship. This week it's the $9.5 million Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas.
Low scores and tons of birdies are required to win this week with K.H. Lee winning the last two editions of this event at TPC Craig Ranch at -26 and -25 under par.
Following wins by dark horse picks Max Homa in the Farmers Insurance Open, Adam Svensson in the RSM Classic and Matt Fitzpatrick in the RBC Heritage, there are opportunities to cash in on other players behind the leading favorites. That includes a top-10 or top-20 finish like dark horse Jason Day at The Players Championship, Xander Schauffele at The Masters, Patrick Rodgers (3/1 for top 10) in Mexico and Tommy Fleetwood (5/1 for top 5) at the Wells Fargo Championship.
PGA Byron Nelson Dark Horse Picks 2023
Beyond the favorites, there are plenty of capable longshots and dark horses that could make a run at the leaderboard and come away with a higher finish or victory on Sunday. After all, did you see Kurt Kitayama win the Arnold Palmer Invitational at 220/1 odds or greater?
Check out the 2023 Byron Nelson odds and preview as we include another dark horse in Seamus Power with a good chance to cash in along with finishing position odds, tournament matchups and golf props on FanDuel Sportsbook.
1. Christiaan Bezuidenhout (+7500)
South African Christiaan Bezuidenhout finished T-12 in his debut here last year. He also tops this field in Strokes Gained Putting and is No. 2 in Short Game over his last 36 rounds. The 28-year-old has been playing well since March, when he finished T-13 at The Players Championship against a much stronger field on a tougher TPC layout. His Tee-to-Green, Approach and Putting stats lead his profile of improved play and standing.
2. Scott Stallings (+7500)
Over his last 36 rounds, Scott Stallings is among the very best in strokes gained stats across the board. He ranks Top-5 in SG: Total, Ball Striking and Approach, as well as Top-11 in Putting, Tee-to-Green and Off-the-Tee. Stallings fits very well when using comp course history as a guide. That proved to be a worthy handicapping tool the last two years in this event at TPC Craig Ranch, when he finished T-25 last year and T-3 in 2021 with a birdie-filled round of 63 on Saturday.
3. Harry Hall (+12000)
We've mentioned Harry Hall before, and at these odds, he's one to watch and include in your top finishing position bets and perhaps a breakthrough score. The 25-year-old Englishman played college golf in Las Vegas at UNLV and is performing well in his first year on the PGA Tour. Since March, Hall has finished T-7 in Puerto Rico, T-13 in the Dominican Republic, T-10 in Mexico and T-28 at the Valero Texas Open. He gained better than 8-strokes total in those first three PGA Tour events, and his Around-the-Green game is excellent. As his total driving stats and approach play improve, Hall will make even more noise as he makes birdies at a high rate, ranking top-10 in this field in Birdies or Better Gained over his last 36 rounds. Harry Hall is on the rise and still well under the radar.
