Chiefs Fans Force Arrowhead Stadium Policy Change Ahead of TNF Home Opener

The Kansas City Chiefs hope to begin the 2022 NFL season going 2-0 when they host the Los Angeles Chargers for Thursday Night Football in Week 2. It turns out that Chiefs fans are so excited for the home opener that they have forced a policy change at Arrowhead Stadium.

Arrowhead Stadium's Twitter team announced that "due to a large crowd" forming hours before the game, parking gates were opened earlier than normal. The gates were scheduled to open at 2:30 p.m. ET, but that was changed to 1:30 p.m. ET due to the high demand.

Chiefs Thursday Night Football

It isn't surprising that so many Chiefs fans can't wait to get into the stadium. After all, this is the first meaningful game played at Arrowhead since Kansas City suffered a heartbreaking overtime loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship Game back in January.

Arrowhead Stadium, with a capacity of 76,416, is one of the loudest stadiums in the NFL. After the Chiefs hung 44 points on the Arizona Cardinals last week, you can bet that the hometown faithful will be loud and raucous, hoping for another high-scoring affair to open the home schedule.

The good news is that there's a high probability of a high-scoring affair tonight. The Chiefs and Chargers possess not only some of the best offenses in the AFC West but also the whole NFL.
