CeeDee Lamb Fantasy Outlook & Injury Update 2022 (Is the Breakout Year Coming?)
Updated:
CeeDee Lamb finished as WR15 in fantasy football last season, averaging 15.1 PPR points per game. That was his second straight season with top-25 wide receiver numbers, and enough evidence for the Dallas Cowboys to truly establish him as the top pass-catcher on roster.
Dallas traded away Amari Cooper to the Browns during the offseason, leaving Lamb as a clear-cut, unchallenged WR1 on the roster. For that reason, he'll be in the conversation among the top fantasy football picks this year. His average draft position (ADP) has him going as the 15th player off the board, and he's a borderline top-five wide receiver no matter where you look.
CeeDee Lamb Fantasy Football Outlook
Lamb saw a relatively small jump in his second NFL season last year, finishing 24th in targets (120), 22nd in receptions (79), 16th in yards (1,102) and 27th in touchdowns (6). That was his second straight campaign with 74+ receptions and 935+ receiving yards.
The third-year pro is shooting up fantasy draft boards though because of his unchallenged reign as Dallas' top target. Cooper's absence leaves a massive hole in production, and there's nobody new on the roster take up those opportunities. Dallas instead will ride Lamb and Michael Gallup as a talented 1-2 combo.
Cooper made up 15.3% of Dallas' targets while leading the team with eight touchdowns. More importantly, he was Dak Prescott's best red zone target and accounted for 17.2% of them (17). Lamb's numbers should climb across the board, and especially in the end zone, with Cooper out of the picture.
In order for Lamb to step fully into his projected "breakout" campaign, he'll need to stay healthy.
CeeDee Lamb Injury Update
Lamb missed approximately 1.5 games thanks to injuries last year. He didn't suit up for a Week 12 contest because of concussion protocols, an injury he suffered the week prior and only played in 54% of those snaps. Those are mere bumps and bruises, but playing a full 17 games will do wonders for Lamb's fantasy value.
CeeDee Lamb Projections
Projections from the NFL odds on FanDuel Sportsbook are also nice and high on Lamb. He's T-7th to lead the NFL in receptions and T-4th in receiving yards. Considering he's averaged 7.22 targets per game for the last two years, and that number expected to jump, he could net 125+ targets across 17 games. At last year's pace of 65.8% catch rate and 13.9 yards per reception, 125 targets projects to give him about 82 receptions for 1,143 yards.
Is CeeDee Lamb a Good Fantasy Football Pick?
So with all said and done, is Lamb good fantasy pick? Absolutely. He's the No. 6 wide receiver in The Duel's PPR fantasy football rankings, and you may want to consider him in the first round.
