Brian Robinson Jr. Fantasy Outlook Paints Murky Situation Despite Incredible Injury Update

It took Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson Jr. just six short weeks to work back from a non-football injury. The rookie playmaker was shot twice in the leg during an attempted robbery.

On Saturday, the Commanders revealed an incredible update on Robinson's recovery process.

Robinson returned to practice at the beginning of the week. With just a week's worth of work off the non-football injury list, Robinson was officially activated for Washington's Week 5 tilt against the Tennessee Titans.

It begs the question, does Robinson deserve an opportunity to sneak into your fantasy lineup?

The answer is no. Not yet, at least.

There's a plethora of factors to consider, but mainly the reason stems from a true lack of clarity around head coach Ron Rivera's plan with his RB room. This is a running back room that includes the likes of Antonio Gibson, fresh off his first 1,000+ yard rushing season in 2021, and a true receiving threat in J.D. McKissic.

Washington clearly values Robinson's skillset, taking the former Alabama product in the third round of the NFL Draft. He burst onto the scene with a terrific senior season after tallying 1,343 yards on the ground with 14 TDs. Robinson also caught 35 balls for 296 receiving yards and another two scores through the air.

With a pair of proven RB talents in the fold, fantasy managers should wait and see before thinking about Robinson in any sort of starting fantasy role. He is, however, worth a prospective add on the waiver wire with the potential upside for such a dynamic talent.
