3 Best Prop Bets for Lakers vs Mavericks on Dec. 25 (LeBron, Doncic Come to Play on Christmas Day)

Updated:

The 2022-23 NBA season has a handful of matchups slated for Christmas Day, including a battle between the Los Angeles Lakers (13-19) and Dallas Mavericks (17-16). FanDuel Sportsbook heavily favors one side more than the other, listing the Mavericks as 8.5-point favorites in a game where the projected total is 230 points.

Here are three of the best prop bets for this Lakers-Mavericks game, courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook's NBA odds.

Lakers vs Mavericks Player Props

1. Luka Doncic — Threes Made: Over 3.5 (+124)

A man of many talents, Luka Doncic has been extremely dangerous from range lately. The Serbian superstar is averaging 3.8 three-pointers on 40.7% shooting over his last 12 games, putting him in the perfect position to finish with the over on this player prop. Doncic has finished with over 3.5 threes in seven of his last 12 games and just sank six shots from downtown against the Houston Rockets on Friday. It also helps that the Lakers allowed an average of 17.7 threes on a 41.7 3P% over their last three games — the second- and fifth-worst marks, respectively, in that span. With Doncic's ability to turn things up in the spotlight, I see the 23-year-old making it rain... well, snow from three-point range.

2. LeBron James — Points + Assists: Over 36.5 (-104)

With Anthony Davis sidelined for the foreseeable future, the Lakers must flow through LeBron James once again. The good news is that 'King James' has done well when it comes to scoring the ball and setting up his teammates lately, averaging 32.7 points and 7.7 assists in his last six games. Needing to go blow-for-blow with Doncic, I see LeBron hitting the over on this combo prop. Aside from averaging 40.4 points and assists in his last six outings, he's also finished with the over on this prop in all but one of those games. After recording 39 points with seven assists in his last Christmas Day game, expect another memorable performance from the 18-time NBA All-Star.

3. Russell Westbrook — Rebounds: Over 6.5 (+116)

Russell Westbrook returned to the Lakers' lineup on Friday, recording only five rebounds in 24 minutes of work. That performance was uncharacteristic considering how the veteran point guard averaged 8.3 rebounds in his nine previous outings. Although the under is favored on his rebounding total, I see Westbrook actually finishing with the over. In addition to finishing with seven-plus rebounds in seven of his last 10 outings, Westbrook has averaged 9.9 boards in his last 16 games against the Mavs, recording over 6.5 on 12 occasions. Even though most of that work came with him being a starter, he's still averaging 28 minutes played this season, meaning he should see enough playing time to finish with the over.
