3 Pitchers Aaron Judge Has Dominated the Most
Updated:
While his recent injury struggles have been frustrating for New York Yankees fans, there's no questioning whether or not Aaron Judge is one of the premier hitters in baseball. Still just 28 years old, Judge likely has plenty of highly productive seasons still in the tank as well.
Judge has dominated just about everyone over his four years in the majors, but these three pitchers in particular have had fits when trying to deal with the Yankees star.
3. Joe Biagini
Looking at all the pitchers Judge has faced at least 10 times in his career, none have given up a better batting average than Joe Biagini. Judge is 7-for-10, earning a .700 average against Biagini. The only thing that keeps Biagini from landing higher on this list is the fact that only 1 of the 7 was a home run.
2. Marcus Stroman
Usually a tough matchup for most hitters, Judge seems to have Marcus Stroman's number. The two have faced off 18 times, and Judge has a strong .444 batting average in the sample. What has been really impressive, though, is Judge's ability to take Stroman deep. The four home runs Judge has against Stroman are the most he has hit against any pitcher over his career. Not bad, considering Stroman's stellar career average of just 0.83 home runs allowed per nine innings.
1. Kevin Gausman
Combining the consistency and power from the matchups above, in 17 career meetings with Kevin Gausman, Judge has hit for a .471/.591/1.118 slash line. He has taken Gausman yard 3 times, also notching 2 doubles and driving in 6 RBI. Gausman must have been thrilled when the Baltimore Orioles traded him out of the AL East during the 2018 season.
