3 Dark Horse Picks for the 2022 BMW Championship on FanDuel Sportsbook

The 2022 FedEx Cup Playoffs continue with the second leg at the BMW Championship starting Aug. 18. The top 70 golfers in the FedEx Cup Standings complete on the 7,534 yard Par 71 at Wilmington Country Club, and the tournament is a no-cut event.

Beyond the leading favorites and top-ranked golfers with the lowest odds to win, there are plenty of other players and dark horses who offer some value as capable contenders. At last week's St. Jude Championship, huge longshot Sepp Straka lost in a playoff to Will Zalatoris, and five other significant longshots finished tied for 5th or better.

1. Xander Schauffele (+1900)

Schauffele had been perhaps the Tour's top performer since the end of April until last week's T-57 finish. The 7-time PGA Tour winner had 3 wins and seven top-15 finishes in his eight prior events. Over his last 24 rounds, Schauffele ranks top-5 in Strokes Gained: Total with strength across all stat categories. His game is adaptable, and he leads the Tour in sand save percentage, top-10 in birdie average and among the leaders in hitting greens at 69.79%.

2. Tyrrell Hatton (+5000)

Hatton is being let go at longer odds, yet the 30-year-old Englishman is a threat and in solid form. He finished T-31 last week, but T-8 and T-11 in two other most recent events with his tee-to-green and approach play at the Wyndham Championship very strong. Over his last 24 rounds on bermuda greens, Hatton ranks top-10 in SG: putting, short game, approach and total.

3. Brian Harman (+7500)

Harman is one of the underrated and overlooked pros on Tour. He's inside the top-30 in the current FedEx Cup Standings and in position to advance to next week's Tour Championship. Harman has been striking and scoring well since the Travelers Championship in late June where he finished T-8. He was consistent in all four rounds in last week's FedEx St. Jude to finish T-3, and even had a top-10 finish at the British Open. On par 71 courses over his last 24 rounds, Harman leads the Tour in SG: putting on bermuda, and he's top-2 in short game and around-the-green.. Add in one of the most accurate drivers from the tee and strong sand player and Harman is an overlay considering his play and results.
