WNBA Betting Picks to Target for Friday 6/14/24

WNBA Best Bets

Los Angeles Sparks at Minnesota Lynx

Lynx -13.0 (-108)

The Minnesota Lynx have arguably been the WNBA's most impressive team in the 2024 season.

Minnesota currently sits at 9-3, ranking first in the Western Conference and has racked up back-to-back dominant wins over the Las Vegas Aces and Seattle Storm. Considering that each of those teams were expected to stand atop the West, it's a credit to what they've done through their first 12 games.

To say the game won't be as difficult tonight would be an understatement, as the Lynx will be taking on the Los Angeles Sparks. I like the Lynx to cover, even with the high spread of -13.0 (-108).

The Lynx are averaging the second-most points in the WNBA this season, scoring 86.7 points per game. They've been led by top scorer Napheesa Collier -- who averages 20.8 per game. Kayla McBride has been great as well, averaging 17.8.

On the other side of the court tonight is a Sparks unit that does not score as efficiently -- ranking in the bottom half of the league with 78.0 points per game.

Defensively, the Lynx are one of the best at stopping their opponents. They're currently holding the opposition to 76.0 points per game, while the Sparks are letting up 84.0 in theirs.

Notably, the Lynx have the best net raring in the league as well, coming in at 12.9. Los Angeles ranks 10th with a -6.8 -- showing the major difference between these two teams.

They're too good to doubt tonight.

Chicago Sky at Washington Mystics

Sky -2.5 (-112)

The Washington Mystics may have finally won their first game of the season, but the Chicago Sky are one of the tougher teams in the WNBA -- even with the losing record that they have.

Washington currently sits at 1-12 while Chicago is 4-7. The Sky have dropped two straight, but I trust that they can cover at -2.5 (-112).

Chicago has a defensive rating of 98.7, compared to Washington's 102.4. The Sky's offense isn't as strong as their defense -- 96.9 -- but even with that being the case, they're still better than the Mystics in that respect as they sit dead last in the WNBA at 93.8.

It shouldn't come as much of a surprise, seeing that the Mystics average just 75.4 points per game -- a league worst as well.

The Sky's tandem of Marina Mabrey and Chennedy Carter plus rookie Angel Reese has led them in scoring thus far. Third overall pick Kamilla Cardoso is finally playing big minutes for the Sky, which should make their 78.5 points per game average begin to rise. She's scored 13 and 10 in her last two games.

The last time these two faced, the Sky walked away with a 79-71 victory. I expect much of the same in tonight's game -- so ride with Chicago to get the job done and take care of business.
