Where is NBA Summer League Played? Courts for Each 2023 Location

The start of the NBA's Summer League showcases is nearly here. The league's newest members, along with some sophomores and journeymen, will soon take over in Las Vegas for the annual tournament. A select few teams will even be playing in tune-up games in Sacramento or Salt Lake City.

With so much Summer League action on the way, there's plenty of interest in where contests will actually be played. Here's everything you need to know about the locations and courts for the 2023 NBA Summer League schedule.

Where is NBA Summer League Played?

The NBA's Summer League circuit currently plays in three locations: Sacramento, California (California Classic), Salt Lake City, Utah (Salt Lake City Summer League), and Paradise, Nevada (NBA Summer League / Las Vegas Summer League).

The California Classic is hosted by the Sacramento Kings at their home arena of the Golden 1 Center. This event often takes place a few days before the official NBA Summer League in Las Vegas and usually has four teams participating, though six teams are a part of the field in 2023. The venue touts a total capacity of 17,608 for basketball games.

The Salt Lake City Summer League is put on by the Utah Jazz, who invite a handful of franchises to play exhibition games before heading to Las Vegas. The Jazz's home court, which was recently renamed to the Delta Center, serves as the host of this showcase. Formerly known as the Vivint Arena, this venue boasts a capacity of 18,306 for basketball games.

Where Do They Play Las Vegas Summer League Games?

The main NBA Summer League takes place in Paradise, Nevada, at the campus of UNLV. Given the size of the event, it utilizes two facilities: the Thomas & Mack Center, and Cox Pavillion.

The Thomas & Mack Center was first opened in 1983 and serves as the home of UNLV's men's basketball team. This venue was the host of the inaugural Las Vegas Summer League in 2004 that featured six franchises. This arena even held the NBA All-Star Game and other festivities in 2007.

As the event expanded and more games were required, the NBA began using the Cox Pavillion as well. This court is directly connected to the Thomas & Mack Center and houses other UNLV sports like the women's basketball and volleyball teams.
