What Do You Get When You Win the French Open? Trophy and Prize Money Breakdown

Updated:
As the 2023 French Open prepares to kick off, there's a lot on the line for the world's top tennis players. A win would not only provide a serious résumé boost, but a boatload of cash and some nice hardware as well.
With that in mind, here's everything you need to know about the perks of winning the French Open.
French Open Prize Money
There is a major prize pool at stake in the French Open. The collective sum has jumped to $49.6 million euros in 2023, which is equivalent to $55.6 million USD. That is a 12% increase from 2022.
The women's and men's singles champions will take home 2.3 million euros (almost $2.5 million USD). Meanwhile, the runner-up of each bracket receives just over $1.2 million USD. The prize pool decreases gradually from there, but even players eliminated in the first round still bank $74.6K USD.
French Open Winner Trophy
Money isn't the only reward up for grabs at the French Open. The ultimate winners of the men's and women's singles tournaments also get the honor of hoisting trophies.
The men's trophy, Coupe des Mousquetaires (or "The Musketeers' Cup"), is named after the four musketeers of French tennis. The women's trophy, meanwhile, honors French tennis legend Suzanne Lenglen.
Though the winners don't get to keep this hardware, their names get etched into the cups, forever immortalizing them in French Open history. The champions also receive a mini silver replica of the trophy that is theirs to keep.
