Vikings Insider Responds to Rumors of Blockbuster Draft Trade
Updated:
It's officially NFL Draft Week, and that means rumors will run rampant in the lead up to the start of the first round. The Minnesota Vikings find themselves at the center of the hottest gossip after it was reported they're exploring a trade up to the No. 2 pick in order to select quarterback Will Levis.
Vikings insider Darren Wolfson weighed in on this buzz late Sunday night.
Wolfson said he has "not heard of legitimate movement" from Minnesota in the first round. However, he didn't say there were no discussions about trading up, so it seems like this has been explored in some way by the team.
Jaime Eisner of The Draft Network said in his latest mock draft that he's heard "loud rumblings" about the Vikings being "very active in trying to trade up for a quarterback." Eisner believes the latest odds movement that's seen Levis become the favorite to be the No. 2 pick is related to Minnesota's efforts.
It's obvious the Vikings have been active in doing homework on all of the top QB prospects in this year's draft. If there was a time for the front office to nab a potential Kirk Cousins successor, it's certainly now. There's plenty of top-end talent to choose from, but there are also several mid-round targets worth taking a flyer on.
All this buzz around Minnesota will make for a very intriguing week. It remains to be seen if this is all just pre-draft smoke, though.
