VIDEO: Remembering When Corey Dillon Scored the Longest Touchdown in Bengals History

During a 10-year career that featured four Pro Bowl appearances, Corey Dillon was well-known for his reliability and consistency. However, especially early on, he showed some impressive big play ability that belied his nickname of "Clock Killin' Corey Dillon".

Dillon holds the record for the longest Bengals touchdown of all-time. In a 2001 game against the Detroit Lions, Dillon stunned the Detroit crowd with a 96-yard touchdown run on the very first play from scrimmage.

Before the play, the Bengals had muffed the kickoff and pinned themselves at their own four-yard line. The Lions couldn't have asked for a better start, but they immediately allowed Dillon to break through their defensive line. Two Lions players ran up to tackle him, but they completely whiffed, allowing Dillon to get into the open field. From that point, he just ran unchallenged into the end zone.

The Lions would eventually end the season with a dismal 2-14 record, mostly due to their woeful defense. However, that shouldn't detract from Dillon's accomplishment or the work of Cincinnati's offensive line on this play, as breaking a 96-yard run is not something you see every day. The Bengals would ultimately win the game, but they ended the season at 6-10. They never made a single playoff appearance over Dillon's seven years with the team.

Dillon spent two more years with the Bengals before being traded for a second-round pick to the New England Patriots. In New England, he would be an instrumental part of the 2004 Super Bowl-winning team before retiring in 2006.
