Tyler Glasnow Takes Huge Step in Tommy John Rehab

Tyler Glasnow Takes Huge Step in Tommy John Rehab

Updated:

One of the reasons why the Tampa Bay Rays have found success in 2022 is because of their starting rotation, which has pitched to a 3.28 ERA (No. 4). What's even more impressive is that the Rays have succeeded without Tyler Glasnow, who's yet to play this year after undergoing Tommy John surgery.

Things have been quiet regarding Glasnow's recovery, but Rays fans received a positive update from the righty on Tuesday. The 28-year-old posted a video of himself throwing off the mound at Tropicana Field.

Glasnow Tommy John Update

Tuesday marked Glasnow's first time throwing off the mound since undergoing surgery last August. This doesn't guarantee that he'll be back in the lineup this season, meaning Rays fans should be prepared to wait until 2023 for his return.

The hope is that Glasnow can pick up from where he left off last season whenever he does return. He was experiencing one of the best campaigns of his career before disaster struck, pitching to a 5-2 record, 2.66 ERA and 0.932 WHIP in 14 starts.

The Rays are only one game back of the American League's top wild card position and it isn't hard to imagine the difference-maker that Glasnow could've been. Hopefully, his recovery doesn't include any setbacks because he's a special hurler that Tampa Bay needs in its pursuit of a World Series.

Rays World Series Odds

Despite Glasnow's absence, Tampa Bay has respectable odds to win the 2022 World Series. The Rays are available at +2800 on FanDuel Sportsbook, putting them in a three-way tie with the Chicago White Sox and St. Louis Cardinals for the ninth-best odds.
