Travis Pastrana 2023 Daytona 500 Qualifying Results, Car, Odds and How to Watch

Updated:

The top names in NASCAR will battle it out this weekend in the 2023 Daytona 500. However, there's a few other notable entrants who are vying for a spot in the field during qualifying, including extreme sports star Travis Pastrana.

Here's everything you need to know about Pastrana's attempt to qualify for the 2023 Daytona 500.

It was announced in mid-January that 23XI Racing had added Pastrana to its roster for the Daytona 500. The X Games legend will aim to join fellow 23XI racers Bubba Wallace and Tyler Reddick in Sunday's race.

Pastrana will be among the drivers who are competing for one of four non-charter starting spots in the event. Others who are also looking to lock up one of these openings include Jimmie Johnson, Conor Daly, Chandler Smith, Zane Smith and Austin Hill.

The Daytona 500 is comprised of a 40-car field, with 36 of those slots already being taken by chartered teams. The remaining four spots are for "open" qualifiers who must earn their way into the starting grid either through Wednesday's qualifying event or Thursday's Duel races.

Two spots will be awarded based on the fastest speeds in qualifying, and the other two will go to highest finishers during the Duel races.

How to Watch Travis Pastrana in Daytona 500 Qualifying

Single-car qualifying is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET on Wednesday, which gives Pastrana his first chance at making the starting grid for the Daytona 500. If he's one of the two fastest open drivers, he'll automatically punch his ticket to the Great American Race. Single-car qualifying is set to air on FS1, Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Thursday's Bluegreen Vacations Duel will feature two races, both airing on FS1, Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. The first is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. ET, and the second is targeting a start time of 8:45 p.m. ET. This will be Pastrana's last chance to qualify for the Daytona 500 if he doesn't clinch a spot on Wednesday. The highest-finishing open driver from each Duel race will secure a spot in Sunday's event.

FanDuel Sportsbook's NASCAR odds paint Pastrana as a long shot ahead of Sunday's race. He's listed at +7000 to win the event, +4000 to finish in the top three and +400 to finish in the top 10.

Luckily, Pastrana has some stock car experience on his side. Though he's never run in a Cup Series race, he's competed in 42 career Xfinity events, including spending a full season driving for Roush Fenway Racing in 2013. He won one pole during that campaign and notched four top-10 finishes.
