Top 12 Fantasy Football Defense Rankings for Week 7 (2022)

Updated:

Defenses are usually just an afterthought in fantasy football. That's leaving points on the board though. Savvy fantasy managers will be scouring the waiver wire to capitalize on the best defensive matchups each and every week.

With that in mind, here are the top 12 fantasy football defenses for Week 7 of the 2022 NFL season.

Fantasy Football Defense Rankings Week 7

12. Chicago Bears (at NE)

11. Jacksonville Jaguars (vs NYG)

10. Baltimore Ravens (vs CLE)

9. Arizona Cardinals (vs NO)

8. New York Jets (at DEN)

Robert Saleh's defense is legit. They rank as the No. 7 fantasy defense after Week 6 and should face another good matchup against the Broncos. Before the season, who would have guessed a matchup with Russell Wilson and the Broncos means good things for a fantasy defense? Well, it does. Wilson's Broncos rank dead last with 15.0 points per game. They've also allowed a top-10 mark in sacks (16). Those are two areas Saleh's defense excels, forcing 10 turnovers (5th) and 14 sacks (12th).

7. Tennessee Titans (vs IND)

6. Indianapolis Colts (at TEN)

5. Dallas Cowboys (vs DET)

4. New England Patriots (vs CHI)

This New England Patriots defense is the real deal. They've exceeded expectations after entering the year with an average draft position (ADP) of D/ST12, all the way to the No. 3 fantasy defense through six weeks. This is a unit that does everything well, ranking third in turnovers (12), top-10 in points allowed and sixth in sacks (17). Even with the speedy Justin Fields, the Bears have allowed the most QB sacks in football while scoring the third-fewest points. Fantasy defenses scoring big when they play the Bears, especially the more talented units like the Pats.

3. Green Bay Packers (at WAS)

Green Bay's defense has a chance to flip the script this weekend against the Carson Wentz-less Commanders. Green Bay ranked as the No. 14 defense after Week 4, before their collapse against the two New York football teams. Even in a road game, this Commanders squad is an enticing matchup. Washington ranks with the sixth-fewest points scored, the most sacks allowed (23) and has already coughed up 8 turnovers. None of those metrics improve with Taylor Heinicke under center.

2. Denver Broncos (vs NYJ)

1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (at CAR)
