Tom Brady Sets Unusual NFL Rushing Touchdown Record on Thursday Night Football vs Giants

The Week 6 "Thursday Night Football" game between the the New England Patriots and New York Giants was more competitive than many might have expected with its 16.5-point spread heading into the contest. While the Patriots ultimately covered the spread, it was New England's defense that scored only one less touchdown (2) than the team's offense did (3).

And it's the way those touchdowns were scored that's even more unusual. The Patriots scored their three offensive touchdowns via the run, with two of those coming from the legs of none other than future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady.

Tom Brady NFL Rushing Touchdown Record

With his two rushing TDs, Brady set yet another NFL record.

The veteran quarterback became the oldest player in NFL history to run for multiple touchdowns in the game. At 42 years and 68 days old, he passed former Patriots QB Doug Flutie, who set the record back in 2003 when he was a member of the then-San Diego Chargers. Flutie was 41 years and 17 days old when he tallied his two rushing TDs in a single game.

How Many Rushing Touchdowns Does Tom Brady Have?

Brady's two touchdowns last night were the second and third such TDs of the 2019 season. He now has 22 rushing touchdowns six weeks into the 20th year of his NFL career.

Tom Terrific decided to be the Patriots' goal line back on the night, but that wasn't the only feat he accomplished on Thursday. To add onto the rushing record, Brady also passed Peyton Manning, moving into second on the all-time passing list.

Coming off his record sixth Super Bowl win in 2018, and still breaking records in 2019, one has to wonder if there's anything Brady can't do.
