Terquavion Smith 2023 NBA Draft Profile (Combine Results, Measurements & Scouting Report for Fearless Guard)

Updated:
NC State's Terquavion Smith enters the 2023 NBA Draft as one of the more exciting prospects available. After back-to-back solid campaigns with the Wolfpack, Smith hopes to find even more success at the next level.
Here's everything you need to know about Terquavion Smith before the 2023 NBA Draft.
Terquavion Smith Scouting Report and Draft Prediction
Smith was solid in his final year at NC State, averaging 17.9 points (second-most in the ACC) and 4.1 assists per game. Although his field-goal (38.0%) and three-point (33.6%) percentages were less than stellar, he still received second-team All-ACC honors for his work.
One thing that scouts like about Smith is that he isn't afraid to shoot the ball, having just led the conference in field goals and three-pointers attempted. His playmaking also took a step forward this past year, going from averaging 2.1 assists as a freshman to a 4.1 APG clip as a sophomore. His 70.1% free-throw percentage also indicates that he could be a decent NBA three-point shooter.
There are some holes in his game, though. Even though Smith isn't afraid to shoot the ball, he sometimes chooses the worst shot possible. He's also just 163 pounds, meaning it'll be easy for him to get outmuscled by a good portion of NBA players. He must put on more muscle if he hopes to play shooting guard.
With his shooting percentages being underwhelming, Smith is more likely to be a second-round pick. A team like the Washington Wizards could take a swing on him at No. 42.
After trading Bradley Beal to the Phoenix Suns, the Wizard's shooting guard room is just Landrey Shamet and Johnny Davis, per Spotrac. There's no harm in adding Smith to the mix, especially with Washington set to rebuild over the next few seasons. If the NC State product can improve his shooting, he could be a solid bench player for years to come.
Prediction: Washington Wizards (Round 2, 42nd overall)
