Steelers Swipe Kicker from Chiefs Practice Squad After Chris Boswell Injury
Updated:
The Pittsburgh Steelers were forced to use a backup kicker Nick Sciba in Week 8 as starter Chris Boswell dealt with a groin injury. There was clearly hope that Boswell could use Pittsburgh's Week 9 bye to return to full health, but the team's latest signing indicates otherwise.
On Wednesday, NFL insider Ian Rapoport announced that the Steelers signed a kicker off the Kansas City Chiefs' practice squad.

Matthew Wright was immediately placed on Pittsburgh's active roster as part of this move, which means he'll be on the roster for at least three games.
This obviously doesn't bode well for Boswell's injury status. Boswell picked up his groin injury while practicing during Week 8.
Wright joins the roster after filling in for the injured Harrison Butker with Kansas City. In two games for the Chiefs, Wright went a perfect 8-for-8 on extra points and 3-for-4 on field goals, with one of those makes coming from 59 yards.
Pittsburgh is back in action against the New Orleans Saints in Week 10. As it stands, the Steelers are considered 2.5-point home underdogs per NFL odds on FanDuel Sportsbook. That type of spread means a Wright field goal could decide the outcome.
