Steelers' Potential Return in Chase Claypool Trade Revealed

Tuesday's NFL Trade Deadline is quickly approaching. The league has already seen a number of high-profile players such as Christian McCaffrey and James Robinson switch teams, but there's plenty of talent still potentially up for grabs.

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool is among a group of players who many experts believe could be dealt. Between his 2024 free agency and the emergence of rookie George Pickens, Claypool's talents could certainly be flipped for draft capital.

Claypool's potential trade value has been revealed in a weekly column from NFL insider Peter King

King identifies the Green Bay Packers are Claypool's perfect fit. The franchise is faltering without Davante Adams and rookie Christian Watson's inability to stay on the field leaves the Packers in desperate need of a wideout. King believes Packers GM GM Brian Gutekunst should offer a "second [round draft pick] in 2023 and a fifth [round draft pick] in 2024" to get the deal done.

While it's speculative, this shows an idea of what Pittsburgh could net for this talented pass-catcher. Claypool's role on the roster could easily be replaced by Pickens, and allow Pittsburgh to set themselves up better for a bright future under rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett.

For now, the Steelers have just +2300 odds to make the playoffs on FanDuel Sportsbook, so it'd be wise to start thinking about the future.
