Here's everything you need to know about Sidy Cissoko before the 2023 NBA Draft.
Sidy Cissoko Scouting Report and Draft Prediction
Sidy Cissoko is not the most recognized name in this draft class as he remained under the radar before joining the NBA G League last year. That doesn't mean he can't make an immediate impact in the NBA, though. The 19-year-old has elite passing skills for a player of his size and also has the natural strength needed to body people down low. That was on full display with the Ignite this past season.
Cissoko finished his lone season in the G League averaging 12.8 points. 2.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists across 29.3 minutes per game. He constantly found the open teammate by relying on his court vision and stayed in control when the ball was in his hands. Cissoko stuck out on the defensive end, too, as his aggressive motor and quick hands helped him average 1.1 steals to go with 1.0 blocks per contest.
There is no such thing as a perfect prospect, though, as Cissoko shot only 30.4% from three-point range and 64.5% from the free throw line. That will not get the job done at the NBA level, especially for a player that spends most of his time on the wing. Perfecting his shooting stroke and finding a way to be a rebounding threat are two things the young baller will need to focus on during his rookie year.
Overall, Cissoko's ability to guard 1-4 as well as his desire to gets stops on the defensive end of the court gives him a safe floor as a role player. How he develops on the offensive end will determine his ceiling. The Indiana Pacers stick out as a possible landing spot given they finished 26th in defensive efficiency last year. Cissoko is already capable of shutting down opposing pros, making the pick worth the risk.
Prediction: Indiana Pacers (Round 1, 29th overall)
