Saints Get Concerning Jameis Winston Injury Update to Start Week 8

Updated:

The New Orleans Saints are facing a pivotal moment in their 2022 campaign. Heading into Week 8 with a 2-5 record, New Orleans has to turn things around quickly if they hope to salvage their season in the wide-open NFC South.

Unfortunately, injuries in the quarterback room have been a major issue. This includes starter Jameis Winston, who hasn't played since Week 3 thanks to a back ailment.

New Orleans kicked off their Week 8 practices with some more bad news on the oft-injured QB.

Team insider Nick Underhill reports that Winston "still isn't 100% healthy yet," despite the gunslinger missing four consecutive weeks. It's a frustrating turn of events after backup Andy Dalton suffered his own back injury in Week 7.

All eyes will be on the Saints practice report ahead of their Week 8 clash with the Las Vegas Raiders. Only time will tell if either Winston or Dalton can get healthy enough to suit up. If not, the Saints will have to rely on some combination of Taysom Hill or Jake Luton, the lone QB on the team's practice squad.

New Orleans is in danger of falling to 2-6. FanDuel Sportsbook's NFL odds peg the Saints as 1.5-point home underdogs in Week 8.
