Saints Reveal Deonte Harris' Official Jersey Update Following Name Change
Updated:
New Orleans Saints' return specialist/wide receiver Deonte Harris legally changed his surname to Harty on Christmas Day last December. It was a move to honor his stepdad, Marlon Harty, and the team's Twitter page has provided the first look at the All-Pro's updated jersey entering the season.

According to Harty's mother, changing his name has been a dream Deonte has had since middle school. Harty will still be donning No. 11, but the letters on his jersey now represent his new family name. The 24-year-old was unable to make the switch midway through the season due to NFL rules.
Marlon has been a part of Deonte's life for 17 years and is a sergeant in the Baltimore Police Department. It's clear the two men share a special bond and have made quite the impact on one another. That can be seen in the video Deonte posted on TikTok when he announced the switch.
Harty went undrafted in 2019 before signing with the New Orleans Saints and has developed into one of the best returners in the NFL. He has averaged at least 23.8 yards per kick return in each of his first three seasons and posted a career-high 611 yards from scrimmage on 41 touches in 2021.
Training camp is well underway for New Orleans and Harty has a chance to compete with Marquez Callaway/Tre'Quan Smith for a top backup WR spot. For now, the Saints have odds set at +400 to win the NFC South and odds set at +4000 to win Super Bowl 57, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
